Curbside Recycling in the District

The District, in cooperation with its trash collection contractor, Waste Management of the Inland Empire, offers free curb side recycling in conjunction with the regular trash pickup. Participation is simple: call WM at 800-423-9986 and ask for a container. WM will deliver a 96-gallon wheeled container with a distinctive Recycling label. Place all of your recyclable trash in the container and take it to the foot of your drive along with your regular trash containers on Monday night. You benefit by effectively doubling your trash container capacity at no additional charge. Recyclable material will be picked up in a separate truck on Tuesday, the normal trash pickup day. See the list below for a list of recyclable and non-recyclable materials.

Waste Management funds this free service by transporting the material to a central processing facility where the materials are sorted, primarily by hand. The sale of recovered commodities (glass, paper, cardboard, steel, aluminum, etc.) pays for the cost of collection.
